Annie Long first made her debut in the folk world singing the lyrical songs of  Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell and accompanying herself on guitar in London colleges and folk clubs.  She then joined a professional cabaret band and toured extensively in Britain and on the continent.  Appearances at that time included the Marbella Hilton in Spain and the Savoy Hotel in London.  At one time she sang in the same band as Annie Lennox and worked with Phil Collins! She also recorded a single with 8-piece jazz/rock band "Ozo" at CBS studios. This was featured on T.V. but was never released because the band split up.

In the early 90`s, Annie became "hooked" on jazz after appearing in a theatrical review at Wimbledon Theatre - "That Cole Black Magic", staged to celebrate Cole Porters` centenary.  She began to study the work of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday and Sarah Vaughn and attended jazz singing master-classes with Eddie Harvey at Richmond Jazz School.

She gained experience on the South London jazz scene, singing with well established musicians such as Dick Laurie's Elastic Band and Frank Griffith, moving on to form her own quartet.

She has worked a wide variety of venues including pubs, clubs, outdoor fetes & festivals, weddings, private parties, hotels, restaurant chains such as Pizza Express, 606 Club and The Café Rouge in Putney where she held a residency for 2 years.  Her repertoire has expanded to include latin, swing, mainstream, blues, soul, R&B and popular standards.

Having re-located to the Wirral in the North West, in January 2000, Annie now works with local professional musicians as part of a duo, trio, quartet or quintet and her most recent notable performances include the 2011 Southport Jazz Festival and the Nantwich Festival. She finished working on her new album, featuring two of her own songs, in the summer of 2009.  Entitled “Swan Song”, this was released in October.  Annie has developed an assured, sophisticated style of singing that appeals to all ages.  She can be found at several regular venues in the Cheshire/Merseyside area, including Alexander’s Jazz Bar in Chester and Pizza Express in Southport.
